19th Century Italian Renaissance Revival Sideboard

French Perfection!! A most impressive Renaissance Revival Henry II style well carved solid walnut sideboard server from the second half of the 19th century, finished in later chic distressed dusty blue painted finish with light airy hues of chalky gray. Born in France, circa 1870, this piece is wonderfully hand carved and crafted with wonderful attention to detail. It features a rectangular wooden top over an ornate frieze with foliate carvings and decorative ornamentation, large dovetailed drawer in the center, flanked by a pair of smaller drawers, all affixed with original patinated brass pulls, rising over the open shelf base with classical arched fluted columns, paneled back, above stepped molded skirt, resting on bun feet. It's a most impressive piece with the commanding presence 16th century Henri II furniture is known for, including handsome masculine lines and strong architectural form, combined with a relaxed shabby chic farmhouse refinement, beautifully aged warmth, and unfussy elegant sophistication. A exceptionally carved Italian Renaissance Revival figural curule stool. Born in Italy during the late 19th century, hand-crafted of warm, rich, finely carved solid walnut, finished in medieval Henry II style / Italian Empire taste, featuring X-frame with curved armrests ending in ornate stylized lion's head / griffin grotesques, having an upholstered seat cushion adorned with nail head trim, rising on foliate carving turned stretcher-joined richly detailed acanthus leaf accented legs, terminating in finely sculpted lion paw feet. A wonderful example of functional art, the impressive antique, circa 1880, having beautifully aged patina over the whole, retaining original antique character throughout, worn smooth, naturally distressed patina that does not detract from the overall display, but only adds to the elegant rustic warmth, historical depth and European old world charm. (plant stand - indoor planter - conservatory or solarium garden box - flower display) Born in Italy in the late 19th century, most likely originating in the Veneto region of Northern Italy (Venetian), exquisitely hand-crafted in medieval Italian Renaissance style / Henry II taste, having a removable metal interior liner with handles, resting in the well-made rectangular case with stepped molded edge, over paneled frieze adorned in intricate hand carved plaquette and foliate scrolled rinceaux relief ornamentation, rising on urn-form turned column supports, atop large platform shelf base with conforming stepped molded edge further raised on bun feet with primitive inset casters. Dimensions: (approx) 22" High, 40" Wide, 17.5" Deep A wonderful example of functional art. In good original antique condition, it's srong, sturdy and structurally sound with rich patina over the whole. Substantial wear consistent with age and indicative of use.
