Spanish Brutalist Sideboard in Oak

About the Item

Sideboard, stained ash, iron, Spain, 1960s This cabinet originates from Spain and shows the decorative characteristics of the 16th century Castilian furniture design. The carved geometric shapes on the door panels immediately catch the eye and are the signature for this item; a design that is established during the seventies when Brutalism was at his highest level. This movement is an architectural style started from the mid-20th century, aiming for raw, geometric and compromise-less buildings. Characterized by blatant concrete-skeletons with geometric patterns and Puritan materials. In decorative arts brutalism is highly represented in furniture design. The design convinces visually through its remarkable repetitive angular carved pattern and the stabile construction. Thanks to its rectangular shape the sideboard provides plenty of storage space. Please note that this item is in good, used condition. The lacquer shows some damages and could use some touch ups in our in house atelier. We kindly ask you to reach out to our design specialists for more information.
