French Louis XV Style Belle Époque Mahogany & Ormolu-Mounted Vitrine Attr. Linke

About the Item

A very fine French Louis XV style Belle Époque mahogany and tulipwood ormolu-mounted vitrine cabinet with a Brêche violette marble top, attributed to François Linke (1855-1946). The single door vitrine with beveled glass panels, surmounted with floral wreath gilt-bronze mounts, with two interior glass shelves above a storage compartment, raised on four cabriolet legs with ormolu sabots. The front door with a parquetry designs with corner ormolu rosettes, Paris, circa 1900. François Linke (d. 1946) was awarded the gold medal for his Grand Bureau at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle. He was the most celebrated Ébéniste of his time. Born in Bohemia in 1855, he moved to Paris in 1881. He produced furniture of the highest quality at his workshops at 170, rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine, and established showrooms at 26, Place Vendme. Some of Linke's early productions were neither signed or stamped. Measures: Height: 65 1/4 inches (166 cm) Width: 29 inches (74 cm) Depth: 15 1/2 inches (39.5 cm).

    Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. A truly beautiful and great quality vitrine. Unsigned, but probably by Linke. Recently refinished. Ormolu gilt all original with minor rubbing wear. Marble top with minor edge wear/chipping, but polished. Please view all images.
