Late 19th Century French Henri II Style Hand Carved Walnut Vitrine
About the Item
This late nineteenth century French Henri II vitrine is constructed of hand-carved walnut and features beveled glass on three sides. Hand carved acanthus leaves detail the sides and corners and two fluted columns frame the door. The lower panel of the door is detailed with a central urn flanked by stylized dolphins. Its single door opens to allow access to its three adjustable glass shelves in the upper cabinet and single shelf in the lower cabinet, used for additional storage. The back of the interior is mirrored allowing objects on display to be seen from multiple angles. The cornice is adorned with a Vitruvian scroll motif. Resting on bun feet, this handsome cabinet with a small footprint is ideal to display a collection of objets d'art, circa 1890. Includes one key with functioning lock.
