Oak Vitrine, circa 1860
About the Item
An arched cornice culminates in a beautifully pierced, foliated design incorporating flowers, ruffles, and scrolled leaves atop this oak vitrine. The arched, double doors with glass panes of the upper gallery are overlain with pierced foliated carvings and open to two removable shelves. The upper gallery rests on the lower cabinet, which is 41.25 inches tall. It features two drawers over doors that are carved with foliated carvings similar to those on the upper gallery of the vitrine. Decorative brass escutcheons add to an overall luxurious appearance. The vitrine is raised on heavily carved, scrolled front feet and block rear feet. A Belgian certificate inside the vitrine attests to its authenticity.
