17th Century Italian Louis XIII Roman Walnut Wardrobes Armoires, 1630

About the Item

A walnut veneered two-section sideboard, Central Italy, probably city of Rome, beginning of the 17th century. Double-bodied walnut cabinet, with upper molded frame surmounting a smooth architrave. A second molded border separates the two elements that make up this majestic piece of furniture, whose panels are enclosed by two rows of linear frames, the inner one with angular meanders centered by umbels. The frontal part is marked by symmetrically arranged doors: the two upper doors are well delimited by pilasters in relief in the form of caryatids; the two lower doors are defined laterally by simple linear squares. The sides, similarly framed, are without the small corner umbels. Shelved feet.
