18th Century French Provincial Oak Armoire

About the Item

Magnificent cabinetry and statuesque proportions give this antique oak armoire a captivating presence. When it was built in 18th Century France, furniture like this would have been an uncommon luxury —this piece would have certainly been a treasured heirloom. The baroque contours of the paneled doors create an impression of dynamic motion, lending the cabinet an air of lightness and vivacity despite its ample size. This impression is heightened by the small dimensions of the carved feet, which seem to elevate the broad case effortlessly. The wood has been beautifully restored to an organic finish, revealing the pale tawny hue of the natural oak.
