Early 19th Century Raised Dutch Wardrobe

About the Item

Early 19th century Raised Dutch Wardrobe is an impressive piece, designed to command attention in any room yet provide a critical storage solution for the family. The bold triple arched crown consists of a complex triple tiered molding with the top tier ebonized, melding into the centerpiece which depicts a shell festooned with floral motifs, also ebonized, and sculpted from solid oak in full relief. The massive doors below follow the contours of the crown above, and feature stylized trim around the panels also ebonized. Neoclassical cast brass key guards add a nice touch. The upper cabinet opens wide to reveal cavernous storage, with three surfaces and five interior drawers. The lower section upon which the cabinet rests is a contoured facade that houses four drawers fitted with turned wooden knobs, and the entire affair rests on a raised platform supported by tapered legs connected with scrolled stretchers to make it easy to access the commodious storage within. Note the chamfered solid oak panels appearing even on the back side, a quality that ensures this instant family keepsake will provide enjoyment for generations to come! Circa 1820s Measures 88.5 H x 68 W x 21 D.
