Important Burr & Burl Gothic Antique Wardrobe Oversized Polished Brass Fittings

We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare and important, Museum quality, Gothic style Antique Burr & Burl Walnut wardrobe with oversized, polished brass fittings This piece is part of a suite, I have the matching dressing table listed under my other items I have never seen another wardrobe like this in my career, it has a Gothic castle look and feel to it, the timber panels are way older than the actual wardrobe, I think this was made in the Victorian era by repurposing something that was very old and making something newer and usable, the fixtures are fittings all look to be mid-17th century circa 1740-1760, the timber I would say is around the same era but the internals are pure Victorian circa 1860-1880 Inside you have a large campaign chest of drawers, folded linen shelves which slide out, a free hanging section and a small pot cupboard to the base which can be used for shoes eta. This piece breaks down into a few sections for ease of transport, you have a top pediment, base plinth and then the main body splits into two pieces Condition wise we have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, there will be age and use related patina marks here and there, most likely some small losses, this piece isn’t designed to look new and contemporary, its designed to look 300-400 years old and full of charm and charisma Dimensions Height:- 196.5cm Width:- 198.5cm Depth:- 58.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
