Pair English Regency Mahogany Card Tables / Tea Table, 19th Century
About the Item
This Regal pair of English Regency Mahogany Card Tables / Tea Tables with Rosewood Crossbanding are made in the first quarter of the 19th Century. The English NeoClassical Tea Table top has a highly figured Crotch Mahogany surrounded by elegantly refined Rosewood Crossbanding. The Game Table tops swivel open to a hidden compartment that is lined with the original Blue Wallpaper. The Card Table tops open to reveal a Black Baize playing surface.
This Pair of Regency Tables have vertical Fiddle Back Mahogany Veneered Aprons with raised rectangular Plinths in the center Freeze and two raised vertical rectangular Plinths on the opposite wall sides surrounded by reel molding. The bottom of the apron also has reel molding. The pedestals have two ebonized rings above and below the carved acanthus leaf center of the turned baluster. The pedestals have four Spur Knee Saber Legs with original brass Paw Feet Casters.
