Regency-Period Rosewood Card Tables

About the Item

These exceptional Regency card tables were designed with dual purposes in mind. Crafted of rosewood, the tables serve as attractive console tables when closed. When opened, the tables quickly transform into a felt-lined card playing surface. Exhibiting the best of traditional Regency design, these tables are classically adorned by inlaid brass that beautifully complements the richness of the rosewood. Card playing and gambling were very popular pastimes among the fashionable elite during the 18th and 19th centuries, and tables such as these were specially crafted and housed in some of the finest estates throughout England. It is exceedingly rare to find a matching Regency-period pair such as these, particularly in such excellent condition. Circa 1820 36 1/8" wide x 17 5/8" deep x 28" high (closed)
