English Regency 1840s Mahogany Rent Table with Leather Top and Eight Drawers

About the Item

An English Regency period mahogany drum or rent table from the early 19th century, with black leather top, eight drawers, pedestal and quadripartite base on bronze feet. Created in England during the second quarter of the 19th century, this Regency mahogany table called a drum table or a rent table features a circular top fitted with black leather embossed with scrolling foliage and flowers. Showcasing a reeded edge, the table presents eight drawers on the apron, all fitted with ring pulls on floral-themed backplates. The name drum or rent table comes from its use as a filing system by rent collectors, the drawers being labeled with the days of the week. The ensemble is raised on a turned pedestal resting on four curving legs mounted on bronze feet with casters. With its elegant lines and mahogany patina, this English Regency drum or rent table circa 1840 will make for a great addition to any study, library or living room.
