1950's Ash Coffee table

About the Item

This Mid Century Modern coffee table is made of solid Ash, and has a beautiful grain and elegant tapering table legs. The table was produced by UP Zavody in the 1950’s. Sadly its designer is unknown but the table is very similar to the work of a great Czech furniture designer Frantisek Jirak. In the 1950’s, Czech furniture design was looking with admiration to the Scandinavian countries. This influence is particularly apparent in the use of material. The bright colour of the Ash wood along with a rich texture goes well with a simple design language. The main design feature here are the two side panels that adds a bit of dynamism to the whole piece. This table is in perfect vintage condition. The wooden frame, legs and the table top have been all cleaned and refurbished to its former glory. The entire piece has been finished by Shellac varnish in order to achieve the original finish. There is only absolutely minimal wear acquired over the years.
