Antique Northern Chinese Kang Opium Bed with Chow Legs and Hand Carved Frieze

About the Item

A large antique northern Chinese Ming Dynasty style kang opium bed from the early 20th century, with bulging chow legs and hand-carved frieze in scroll pattern. Born in China during the early years of the 20th century, this exquisite opium bed could be used as a low coffee table. Presenting a rectangular waisted top with central board, the bed attracts our eyes with its delicate apron, adorned on three sides with a hand-carved frieze with scroll patterns. The bed is raised on four Ming style chow legs with horse-hoof extremities. With its nice proportions, skilfully executed décor and brown patina, this opium bed will bring an exotic touch to any home, particularly in a living room or placed under a covered patio.
