About the Item
This coffee table is part of a collection inspired by the nature created by the artist and designer Raoul Gilioli.
The value of this table is given by the wood that the artist used. It is a 1200 year old olive wood that comes from Puglia, a region in the south of Italy.
Raoul Gilioli cut the wood giving a geometric and dynamic shape and created a plexiglass panel composed of three overlapping layers, black, gray and transparent. On the black panel is engraved a wave of the sea that represents the memory of the sea that saw the ancient tree when it was near the beaches of Puglia.
This table is a unique piece and the ancient wood with which it is made has an immense historical and sentimental value. In the 1500s Leonardo Da Vinci lived some years in this territory making fables machines and inventions. It is nice to think that, perhaps, he rested in the shadow of this ancient tree.
The artist creates and produces each piece of the collection in collaboration with the best Italian artisans and each piece is accompanied by a certification that tells with images and text the story of the piece.
Raoul Gilioli has made many works in Italy and Europe and today he collaborates with an important gallery in Hong Kong. His research is closely linked to naturalistic themes and his works are acquiring a growing economic value.
