Distortion, Georges Mohasseb Design, 2017
Designed to recreate the age circles of a tree, Distortion, the coffee table gives the illusion as if it is sculpted directly from a tree trunk. The middle circle mimics nature perfectly. As the circles move towards the edges of the top and downwards towards the ground, the pattern starts to change creating distorted circles flowing organically through this piece. Directing the eye of the observer in the same direction.
To create this piece with beautiful details from every angle, five types of different veneered solid wood - Birch, American walnut, Maple, French oak, and mahogany - are used for the contrasts of these different natural colors compressed next to each other.
