Gardner Leaver for Steelcase Chrome and Glass Coffee Table
About the Item
Vintage Steelcase of Grand Rapids, MI chromed steel coffee table, from a group designed by Harold Gardner Leaver (1921-1990). According to the Steelcase brochure for this collection, Leaver attended the Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Students League. He taught at Pratt Institute for quite a few years, also. An artist who had wide ranging interests, Leaver described his Steelcase collection as "the distillation of a probe, an effort to reduce an idea to its essence and still have a lyricism, a forthrightness".
