Rare Gunnel Nyman four-legged Finnish Modern Side Table. This exceptionally uncommon find, larger four-legged version is a testament to the designer's enduring influence on Finnish design. With its distinct blend of functionality and artistic flair, this side table is the perfect addition to spaces that appreciate the marriage of history and modernism. Picture it as a striking accent in a Scandinavian-inspired interior, or as a focal point in a design-conscious living room.
In good vintage condition with signs of age and use. There is some slight wear on the table's lacquered surface.
Gunnel Nyman (1909 – 1948) was a visionary Finnish designer with a background in furniture design from the Taideteollinen Korkeakoulu (Central School of the Industrial Arts) in Helsinki. Initially embracing the functionalist style, Nyman's creative journey extended into metalwork for ecclesiastical use and impactful lighting designs, such as those for Helsinki's Swedish Theater in collaboration with Oy Taito AB metalsmiths. However, her lasting legacy is anchored in the world of glass, particularly the iconic art glasses and glassware sets she crafted for Riihimäki Glass from 1933 onward, and later for Nuutajärvi in 1947-48.
