Modern Claro Walnut Strike/ Slip Coffee Table with Brass and Charred Beam Base
About the Item
Handcrafted by Taylor Donsker in Northern California, this piece is inspired by strike slip earthquakes and wood movement. The Strike/Slip coffee table features a multi-layered, 'ruptured' surface with two independently supported halves. This allows the table to be slid along itself or even separated, when the occasion demands, into two separate tables. The top rests upon two Douglas Fir beams, reclaimed from a demolished train station, that were blackened with a torch to enhance the texture of the grain and allow the top to take precedence. To stabilize the cracks, Taylor's signature polished brass corsets joinery is inlaid into the top and base. All wooden elements in the table are finished with Taylor's signature, velvety smooth hand rubbed oil and wax finish and handcrafted in Northern California.
