About the Item

The Sillar coffee table consists of two antagonistic design elements: on the one hand, a Roman travertine marble column, perfectly proportioned and with classic details and contemporary air; and on the other hand, a contrasting rusted metal structure that expresses a great modernity and subtracts visual weight to the coffee table. These two elements provide and compensate each other to form a coffee table that is topped with a 15 mm glass surface. The transparency of the glass allows to contemplate the structure of the coffee table and these elements that intertwine and cross. In total there are three elements, stone, metal and glass, which make up the coffee table. Joaquín Moll's design of this Sillar Coffee table proposes a reconstruction of classicism and a revision of contemporaneity, so that both universes coexist in a single piece of furniture. All Meddel furniture is manufactured in Meddel's facilities in Segovia, Spain, using artisanal techniques and know-how that result in high-end furniture in natural stone. Sillar Coffee is a high-end coffee table made of Roman travertine marble, oxidized iron and glass on the surface, with a contemporary style that expresses the renewal of the concept of classicism adapted through the elements to contemporary interiors and decorations. The marble and metal have a raw and natural finish, allowing the material itself to have a unique discourse. In the case of iron, it has a natural oxidation that is stopped in the workshop when the material has reached its oxidation point. In the case of the Roman travertine, the column has the exact proportions for an impeccable aesthetic result, with few scrolls and restrictions on the decorations.
