Angelo Mangiarotti “Incas” Console for Skipper, 1978

About the Item

Angelo Mangiarotti “Incas” console for Skipper, pietra serena, Italy, 1978. Mangiarotti designed the “Incas” console as a development of the “Eros” model, featuring the same structural idea in a different material. Manufactured in Pietra Serena, “Incas” is characterized by a squared-shaped top and trapezoidal-shaped legs. The top ‘locks’ itself onto the legs and is kept in place as a result of the weight of the material. The construction is gravity-based, and the structure is stable and strong. Angelo Mangiarotti (1921-2012) was a great Italian architect, designer, and sculptor. Highly valued for his approach to materials, his design is distinguishable for his ability to enhance the sensual aspect of his creations. Each piece of furniture is characterized by a formal, intuitive, and highly expressive sensitivity. The ultimate purpose of his research, always pursued in rigorous respect of materials, is the definition of the object's shape as a quality of the substance. Our atelier carefully restored this console. Slight signs of use and time.

Mario Bellini 412 "CAB" dining chairs for Cassina, Red Bulgaro leather, Italy, 1978, set of eight. The "CAB" is the world's first free-standing cowhide design chair, informed by the relationship between the skeleton and the skin; an authentic example of production excellence that requires multiple stages of artisan craftsmanship to create a trendy tailored-to-fit object. The "CAB" are high-quality chairs with hand-stitched natural leather upholstery wrapped over an internal steel frame. The only additional reinforcement is provided by a rubber membrane plate that supports the seat. Bellini's innovation lay in using zips to fasten the leather cover to its frame; a zip runs up the inside of each leg, sealing the cover. We can do custom restoration and special reupholstering. Our atelier guarantees the excellence of Italy through the traditional art of craftsmanship. We do offer a dedicated customization service thanks to our team of expert craftsmen and artisans.
