Art Deco Console Serving Table by Charles A. Richter for Bath Cabinet Makers

About the Item

A fine Console/Serving table by Charles A Richter for Bath Cabinet Makers. In figured mahogany, with ebony banding. The rectangular top, supported by rectangular pedestals, with angled feet and a central shelf. The matching sideboard also available and the sideboard featured in Country Life, 1930. Charles A Richter (1876–1945) started Bath Cabinet Makers Guild in 1892, its work was regularly illustrated in The Studio and the company soon began to receive international prizes. A variety of styles were produced, from Parisian-inspired versions of 'Adam' to Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Arts and Crafts and streamlined Modern in a huge range of woods, solid and veneer. Important contracts included furniture and fittings for Cunard's luxury liners, the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth. A proportion of its output was mass- produced, although the workmanship was always of a high standard selling in London stores such as Maples and Harrods. All our furniture is professionally polished and restored where necessary. Our restorer has over 40 years of furniture restoration experience including 15 years living at Windsor Castle whilst working for the Royal household, so comes highly recommended!
