Chinese Altar Table

About the Item

Qing dynasty furniture is designed to exhibit a positive interplay between nature and humanity. This altar table, with its simple structure and minimal decoration, sets off the natural beauty of the wood. The table's beauty has only been embellished with time and wear. Qing dynasty furniture finds beauty in imperfection and profundity in nature. The table is made of elmwood which was given a dark tint and has developed a deep brown patina. The tabletop features everted flanges. The table is supported by straight legs connected by pierced carved side panels with a flower motif. The spandrels feature a wonderful hand-carved pierced open work scroll design.
