Console and coordinating mirror in style of Oscar Bach with ornate Egyptian or Roman Revival style figures in cast metal with gilt and enamel patina finish, circa 1910s. Console features marble top and lower shelf and six animal paw feet, early 20th century. Coordinating arched mirror. Sold and priced as a set. Unknown maker. Measurements shown are for console. Mirror measures: 36” high x 21.75" wide x 1.5" deep.

    Italianate mirror and console set designed and manufactured by Oscar Bach, 1923. Copper alloy with dark brown chemical patina, glass, lacquer, tinned sheet metal. The mirror is referenced in on the official Oscar Bach website in the category featured work under mirrors. The website was created by "The friends of Oscar Bach" which is dedicated to the life and work of Oscar Bach. From the description of the mirror. The framing panels of this Italianate mirror consist of foliate scrolls within rectangular borders, laid over lacquer panels. The side, top, and bottom panels contain vines with triangular leaves, textured fruit and leaves, and berries, all imposed over red lacquer. Each of the four corner panels depicts a four-leafed blossom on an open square device, imposed over black lacquer. Each of these eight lacquered panels is framed by a simple molding, and a ribboned slip molding surrounds the glass that lies within the frame made by the lacquered panels. Above this ornate rectangular frame is a pediment containing a classical mask with lobed hair or crown and down-turned mouth, flanked by converging S-scrolls with petaled flowers. Below the frame are complimentary bound scrolls, each with a hanging leaf pendant. A demilune slap of white marble (patinated over time) sits atop of the matching demilune console...
