About the Item

Kang coffee table from the Qing Dynasty period - 19th century- China. Very elegant and sophisticated, this table is a perfect example of ancient Chinese craftsmanship. It is a direct descendant of the traditional Kang coffee tables developed in the Ming Dynasty. With its rectangular top, its pierced apron, it reflects the artistic traditions of Chinese carpentry. It fits in with any style of decoration. It is a fascinating testimony to Chinese history. This Charming Chinese coffee table dating from the 19th century, is impressive by its dimensions, a width of more than 1,80 meter, which allows to use it also as a console. Its sober design allows it to be easily incorporated in a modern and design interior. In winter, in China's colder provinces, life revolved around the kang, a heated brick platform on which family members sat or bowed. Placed on top of the kang, the low tables provided a convenient surface for eating, drinking tea, or playing. .
