French Early 19th Century First Empire Mahogany, and Giltwood Demilune Consoles
About the Item
A handsome and unique scaled pair of French early 19th century First Empire mouchette and flamed mahogany, polychrome and giltwood demilune consoles. Each freestanding console is raised by three giltwood ball feet with foliate giltwood accents. The bottom mouchette mahogany demi tier displays a fine raised border and is centered by the central support. Above a square giltwood base are polychrome feet with giltwood sandals and the square tapered mahogany support. At the center is a beautiful and richly carved polychrome caryatid with a giltwood floral band in her hair. The demilune top displays the striking flamed mahogany grain and a fine raised border.
