19th Century Antique French Mahogany Desk

About the Item

A freestanding 19th century French mahogany writing desk, the moulded edge top having a green leather writing surface decorated with blind and gilt tooling, the front of the desk consisting of three oak lined drawers with original decorative brass escutcheons, brass mounts and and workable locks and keys, the end drawers having brass circular patraes, all three drawer fronts having wonderful decorative inlay, the right hand drawer having a lockable secret compartment. The reverse of the desk being exactly the same as the front but having three faux drawers. Supported on four elegant turned and fluted legs terminating on engraved brass feet. In excellent condition and having a lovely warm mahogany colour. Circa 1880.

    This is a wonderful antique late Victorian mahogany partners pedestal desk, circa 1880 in date. The rectanglular top features a stunning inset green and gold tooled leather writing surface. This stunning desk is the same on each side. Each side is fitted with three frieze drawers, three further drawers in one pedestal and a cupboard to the other pedestal, all fitted with the original brass drop handles.
