About the Item
Direct from France, and one of several exquisite antiques from our most recent container. Fabulously hand carved oak pieces in the highly sought after Renaissance Revival, Black Forest, and Gothic, styles, all 19th century and in wonderful condition, sourced from European castles and ready for yours!
THIS MASSIVE writing desk, library table, conference table OR DINING TABLE is solid oak with a rich, dark finish, heavily carved and a statement piece in any room.
The wide, carved beveled edge top extends over a large apron, fully carved on all sides, with carved figural masks on all eight corners.
Note the two drawers, each having twin facing carved serpents with medallion center, and a large dimensional carved mask to the center front. The side aprons also feature these carved masks and flourishes, as does the entire back.
The legs are phenomenal, extending below the corner masks with a Jacobean cup and cover shape, yet completely embellished with carved scrolls and flourishes that continue down to the carved bun feet.
Carved and finished on all sides, excellent to center in any room.
Quality throughout with dovetailed drawers; well built by craftsmen of the period, circa1880.
Measurements: 29.5” ht. x 66.25” x 40”. (5.5 ft. length!).
Leg clearance, 22.25”.
