About the Item
ADE desk
Mahogany wood desk from the 1950s elegant and longilinear.
The body of the mahogany writing desk has been covered on each side, by hand with vintage black opal glass.
The decoration designed by Roberto Giulio Rida in fretwork is executed by hand , features numerous vintage glass lenses all executed by hand one by one , starting with a bright orange slab and then mirrored. The lenses inserted in the holes of the vintage black opaline glass, remain in relief from the flat surface, creating not only a visual but also a tactile contrast, the decoration thought up by the Milanese designer demarcates the sides of the desk starting from the sides of the top and descending on the 4 legs on each side with degrading glass lenses , in order to emphasize the light and airy geometry of the vintage desk.
The only visible metal parts are the center drawer handle and the 4 feet, which are made of nickel-plated solid brass.
The special feature of this desk is that, the central drawer has a height of only 3 cm and a width and depth of 42 cm.
Such specific measurements denote the fact that the desk was originally designed specifically to hold only stationery in the drawer strictly necessary for writing documents and/or letters.
The surface of the top has in the central part in little visible scratch.
Artist Roberto Giulio Rida's signature is placed on the thickness of the small central drawer.
The desk is a unique and non-repeatable piece, and is delivered with fumigated wooden crate suitable for international shipping, with R.G.RIDA logo

Roberto Giulio Rida
“The fundamental elements of Roberto Giulio Rida’s works are all visible and tangible: construction quality and attention to detail, meticulous proportions and the use of period materials handcrafted in Italy. Crystal
Murano’s glass
Wood
Metal
These are the materials on which Italian Design was built in the first half of the 20th century, These are the materials that Roberto Giulio Rida loves, knows and uses to express his imagination by creating unique handcrafted objects such as: furniture, lamps, mirrors, boxes. His work is concrete not conceptual. He does not rely on reproducibility in series and does not seek innovation at all costs. Rida’s work brings the lessons of the great masters of the past into our present in a personal and undemocratic way .. it creates furnishing protagonists, not supporting characters. “
