Antique Dutch Marquetry 18th Century Large Freestanding Desk
About the Item
Large, freestanding five-drawer mahogany desk with elaborate marquetry inlay and ball in claw feet. Inlay included exquisite florals, birds, and other embellishments. To appreciate the marquetry, it could take up to approximately 1,000 hours to complete this type of detailed work. This desk was restored approximately 30-50 years ago. We have opted not to restore it due to its beautiful patina and to keep it in as authentic condition as possible, so there are minor pieces missing. It is strong, ready for use and the drawers run smoothly.
