Confidence of a cloud writing desk by Thomas Dariel Dimensions: D 43 x W 120 x H 147 cm Materials: Structure in MDF with color-painted ash veneer. Fronts and back in the matte or glossy paint finish. Inside compartments in the matte paint finish. One compartment with an image of cloud Metal legs in painted ash veneer. Also available in other colors: orange flamingo / green jungle, celadon / dorian grey, black / celadon. Shaped by an accumulation of drawers and boxes, Confidence of a cloud pays homage to the antique version of the writing desk that traditionally served to write letters by hand. Along with the primary function, these pieces of furniture were also infused with mystery, using hidden compartments to maintain privacy and hold unspeakable secrets. One of its doors opens to a picture of a cloudy sky, inviting one to escape and dream. Thomas Dariel Thomas Dariel is the Founder and leading designer behind the Shanghai-based interior design agency Dariel Studio. As a great-grandson of a French furniture designer, grandson of a jazz musician, and son of an architect, he has always drawn his strength and inspiration from his family heritage. French Designer by training and tireless traveler, he came to China in 2006 to launch his own interior design studio at the age of 24. Dariel has since earned the praise of the interior design industry. He has received several awards, among them selection for Best International Interior Designer – 2012 Andrew Martin Awards, awarded Top 100 talents in Architecture and Design – 2019, 2017, 2015 and 2013 AD Magazine, Top 40 Young Design Talents under 40 – 2013 Perspective 40 Under 40, Top 10 Best Designer in China – Vantage Magazine 2016. In 2017, Thomas Dariel has been elected The Young Design Talent of the Year by EDIDA China Awards, Design Talent of the Year by Trends and The Person of the Year by Trends Home magazines. Dariel draws his creativity from the different worlds of design, fashion, gastronomy, visual arts and luxury. His design philosophy is driven by his passion for breaking traditional codes and clichés which creates a new language for each design. By confronting heritage and cutting-edge innovations, combining French design heritage with Eastern cultural influence, Thomas Dariel’s open approach unfolds original perspectives. Thomas Dariel is recognized for his very personal creative style and his habit to push boundaries, to provoke and surprise. A singular signature that he has extended with success to product design, signing with – among others – Cappellini and Moroso. In 2016 and while pursuing his interior design activity, Dariel decided to Revive a childhood’s dream by launching his own brand of furniture, lighting, rugs and accessories, Maison Dada.
