Rare Antique circa 1860 Library Writing Table Desk with Twin Writing Slopes

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare original circa 1860 Mahogany library table with built in twin writing slopes This is a very rare piece, I’ve not seen another, it can be used as a normal twin drawer desk or even a dining table, the intended function was for two students or workers that required writing slopes to share it sitting at opposite sides like a partner desk but this is of course a table. It comes with the original slip slides which can be removed, these keep in places books etc when using the incline of the slope. Each slope has 4-5 positions so you can adjust the angle accordingly We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, it has various age and use related marks as you would expect, mostly its in very fine order Dimensions Height:- 76.5cm table top height, 79cm to the top of the book holder tabs Width:- 140cm Depth:- 80cm Legroom height:- 62cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
