Rare Modernist Writing Desk by Jos De Mey for Van Den Berghe-Pauvers, 1960s
About the Item
Fantastic writing desk from the ‘Abtracta’ series designed by Jos De Mey and produced in Belgium by Van Den Berghe-Pauvers during the 1960s. This rare L-shaped desk features a sideboard and one drawer cabinet made of oak with a great patina thanks to age and use. The top is made of grey formica and can be mounted anywhere on the sideboard. In very good condition, comes with the original key and labeled by the maker. We have a matching desk chair also available.

Jos De Mey
Jos De Mey was a Flemish-Belgian painter. He is primarily known for depictions of impossible objects in a photo-realistic style, with acrylic paintings constituting the majority of his work. He frequently depicted characters of other artists, notably Magritte, M. C. Escher, and Bruegel. Prior to his focus on painting, he taught and studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. At the time of his death De Mey resided in Zomergem, Belgium.
