Vintage Mid-century Gordon Russell Oak Extending Dining Table and Chairs, 1950s
About the Item
A vintage dining set of consisting of an extending table and 4 chairs produced in the 1950s for Heal's by Gordon Russell. This Classic shape by Gordon Russell references other pieces from the same range with the table top's lipped double ridged edge. The table is made from oak and presents and exquisite grain that glistens under the light. The extension leaf is stored underneath the table, with a convenient ridged edge for easy finger purchase when pulling out. The chairs are a solid and broad shape with hints of Art Deco design, typical of Gordon Russell from this 1950s era. They are constructed with extremely comfortable sprung seat pads with original, well-kept rustic orange upholstery and hessian undersides.
Everything about this table and chairs set is elegant and well made, as well as being very practical.

- Condition:Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Very good condition. The table top has been refinished in a hard wax oil . The table and chairs are all solid and sturdy with no damage. There are light signs of wear commensurate with age, but only visible as the photographs portray.
