Vintage Witco Rustic Carved Wood Conquistador Dining Set with Red Fur Chairs

About the Item

Fabulous complete Witco Tiki dining set with four red velvet chairs and expanding dining table. This is the first time in 13 years of business that we’ve had this complete Witco dining set. We’re lucky to find this elusive set in outstanding original condition. The set comes with four chairs and table as pictured. The chair set includes two arm chairs and two armless chairs. The versatile table has a leaf to grow from 59.5″ to 71.5″ in length. This set captures all the wild brilliance that made Witco famous. Why famous? Elvis was a fan and had several pieces in Graceland. In fact, if you visit Graceland you can see the King’s Witco collection. Why shouldn’t you feast like a king? The solid Western Red Cedar wood dining table features a trestle base. Elaborate, chainsaw carved embellishments adorn the legs, feet, and table trim. The chairs are equally as spectacular with conquistador heads crowning the vertical supports. Black iron bars support the back rest, adding to the gnarly rustic vibes. This sinuous, dark cedar has been painstakingly detailed by our in-house restoration team to both preserve the patina and address any imperfections in the wood. The table was lightly recolored and clear-coated to accentuate and preserve the character. The chairs feature their original upholstery, steam cleaned for your pleasure. The wood on the chairs have been reinvigorated by our restoration team. Robert Post Junior and Artist William Westenhaver Created Witco in 1959. The two capitalized on the exotica trend by creating lavishly bold, roughly carved wood furniture and decor. The delightfully dramatic furniture was so beloved during the period that Elvis created an entire “Jungle Room” in his Graceland home featuring Witco furniture! Witco remains a mainstay among collectors today. You can even see original Witco pieces still in use at Graceland, and other iconic tiki venues like Polynesian Gardens, the Hawaiian Inn, and the Aku Tiki Inn all located in Florida. Table: 59.5”- 71.5” Long x 41.5” Wide x 28.5” High (One leaf: 12” Wide) Chairs: Original fabric has been steam cleaned. Wood frames have new stain and repairs to mitigate areas of weathered wood. Wood frames have some scratches and wear. Sun fading on back of one chair. Table Condition: Wear consistent with age and use. Good vintage condition. Fully detailed top to bottom. New clear coat finish on table top. Mar imperfections on wood look authentic to the style and do not stand out. Leaf has very slight warp and does not sit completely flush to the table ends.
