André Arbus Eight Legged Table

About the Item

French-polished rectangular table in acajou crotch mahogany attributed to André Arbus, circa 1938. Four-way book matched veneer top. Double beveled edge on 2 inch thick top. Eight square tapered legs with solid bronze capitols and sabots. Note distinctive concave depression that runs lengthwise on all four sides of each leg. This table is one piece and neither extends nor contracts, suggesting its original function was as a desk, possibly a partner's desk. See images 19 and 20.
