About the Item
Istanbul based architect and designer Naz Yologlu creates emotional and exclusive art furniture pieces that reflects diverse cultural relics, stories and different states of being through a common contemporary ground. Turkish designer obtained her bachelor’s degree from Central Saint Martins College, London where she studied Architecture, after which she opened her interior design and furniture studio in 2015 and founded her art furniture brand NAAZ in 2018. After showing her own work in different platforms such as Ventura Futur during Milan design week and Collectible fair in Brussels, a fair for 21 Century art and design, she has been selected for a group exhibition at Galerie Scene Ouverte Paris and later she was presented in Design Miami, at Elgiz Museum in Istanbul and many other platforms.
Passionately inspired by her environment she focused her work on the meaning and sense of belonging of spaces and objects. Coexisting between two continents, merged layers of various cultures and experiences; like her background, her sculptured furniture pieces reflect different states of being and offer an emotional element through form and texture that stimulate the senses. Whether it’s the story about cosmos, nature or mythology; all these sensations metamorphose into different forms, textures and objects: a combination of different elements that coexist together: organic yet geometric, bold yet permeable, light yet rich, subtle yet sophisticated. Each collection engages with the user through different sensations in a quest for an experience of beauty that captures the dignity of personal spaces. This journey is about our stories, our relics, unconscious sensations and our memories embellished with fantasies and hopes.
Naides features unique pieces of tables that aims to bring sensations to the
individual space that inhabits it; through form, texture and reflections, rather
than merely mimicking the natural forms. The everyday object becomes an
individual piece of art to be looked at, to be touched, to be lived with.
Inspired by the myth of Narcissus, it depicts the sensation of a morning in a
forest, the encounter with a water lily floating on the water.
The Naiades collection questions and explores the concept of self image : The
double reflection: the emblematic relationship of the parts to the whole, the
flower to its leaf, the leaf to the water in an abstract manner.
This ambiguous relationship of the brass leg and the solid plane of the
table top, embrace the quality of the amphibious and lightness; whereas the
reflections on the brass echoes the play of light on the water, celebrating a
world of imagination that evoke curiosity.
The dining table is the focal point of the interior space: Naiad dining table is an excellent statement art piece with it’s sophisticated sculptural form, material combinations and craftsmanship. The form of the brass legs creates golden hues and shadow plays, while the organic form of the marble evokes depth and lightness; as if floating in the space.
