About the Item
Remarkable workmanship and excellent condition table from ca. 1850
The Rococo Style derives its name from the French word 'rocaille' which is an assymetrical shell motif that was often used in 18th century Baroque. If you look at the striking stem of this remarkable and rare table then you can see those exact 'rocailles'. They are perfectly hand-carved and together with the, equally elaborate, three legs on which this table stands, they form the ideal Rococo Style base to this one of a kind Rococo table. To literally 'top things off' the artisan whom created this table designed and executed a unique table top. It is simply wonderful to be able to own and enjoy such remarkable workmanship. Especially since it has already proven its quality and durabilty for well over 150 years. We don't see why this work of beauty could not last at least another 150 years. It is pieces like this that can help create the perfect atmosphere in your living room or bedroom, also, because they never fail to impress.
