Karl Geckler works as an interdisciplinary sculptor, architect, and designer based in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and later studied astronomy and physics before pivoting to art. His scientific background influenced his artwork greatly and he is inspired by geometry and biological forms, nature and medical diagrams.
Geckler also studied stone carving near Carrera, Italy and taught hundreds of young students the art of stone carving over the course of 8 years. His oeuvre is technology driven with a refined modern edge and he specializes in furniture design and sculpting with stone, metal, and wood. Geckler has pieces in private collections in Europe, Asia and the United States.
