19th Century, English George III Inlaid Console and Game Table

About the Item

19th Century, English George III Inlaid Console and Game Table Measures: closed: cm W 92,5 x D 46,5 x H 78,5; open: cm W 92,5 x D 93 x H 76,5 This refined console table can be transformed into a game table by opening the table top. Made in the early nineteenth century, in the George III era, in England, it is made of veneered wood and decorated with elegant inlays with different wooden colors, to create color contrasts of great decorative effect. The plan of the console, rectangular shape with front angles at 45 degrees, has inlays that create a perimeter frame with decorations in the shape of plants and, inside three ovals, still life with musical instruments, helmet, shield and banners, probably referred to the client of the furniture. The top is foldable and once open becomes an octagonal support surface, mezzanine, for the game of cards. The underside band is enriched on the front by a drawer. Wooden inlays draw on the sides helmets, drums and banners inscribed within rectangular frames. The four legs have an inverted pyramid trunk adorned with two light frames at their origin. This console table is very decorative and easily placed in any furnishing context, can be combined with antique or modern furniture. It can be designed for an entrance hall or a corridor, but also for a study or a living room, surmounted by a dressing table or a painting.

19th Century, Pair of Italian Louis XV style Lacquered Woos Consoles This small pair of consoles was made in the early nineteenth century in Venice in carved, lacquered and gilded wood. The top, with a wavy and shaped profile, is in marble. The consoles are in Louis XV style and feature the characteristic elements of the time. On the front and on the sides, the underplane band, moved and mixed, has a gilded decoration carved with volute motifs and phytomorphic elements of Rocaille taste. The four legs, also moved and curved, are highlighted and illuminated by a golden reserve that ends in the foot with a small curl. These consoles, while having a rich and ornate line, appear well balanced resulting light, decorative and very pleasant. In the important baroque Italian palaces, the consoles were among the most sought-after furnishings, emblem of the wealth of the client, to show off in the large halls of representation. This type of furniture, highly decorative, is still of great scenic effect and contributes to the majesty of each of your environment that houses it. Their small size, marble top, clear lacquer and gold shine make the consoles perfect to be placed in an entrance hall, living room or living room, combined with both antique and modern furniture.
