A Fine French Gilt Bronze & Malachite-Top Gueridon

The circular Malachite top on incurved supports terminating

in rams’ heads and joined by a circular under tier ending in hoof feet



Henry Dasson is one of the most important furniture maker of the second half of 19th century. He is very famous for the high quality of his ormolu mounts with extraordinary mercurial gilding. He continues the tradition of excellence created by Charles-Guillaume Winckelsen from whom he purchased business when he died in 1870. Located at 106, rue Vieille-du-Temple, he specialises in the production of furniture and works of art inspired by Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI style. He is very successful at the 1878 Paris Universal Exhibition where Louis Gonse congratulates him by saying : “Henry Dasson s’est rapidement créé par la perfection de ses oeuvres une très haute situation à laquelle nous applaudissons chaleureusement”. He participates to many other exhibitions earning awards (Grand Prix Artistique, Légion d’honneur) until the end of the company in 1894.
