Italian Gilt-wood Pedestal in Rococo taste, Italy c. 1750

About the Item

A unique and finely-executed Gilt-wood pedestal, with Spiral-form stem, and featuring deeply-carved Rococo forms throughout. Italian in origin, and dating from the mid 1700s. The base with protruding C-scroll forms & foliate designs, the latter climbing the shaft to the capital. Egg-and-dart borders, carved foliate designs, & a recessed platform comprise the capital.
