Sevres Style Hand Painted Porcelain Bronze and Mounted Onyx Pedestal

About the Item

This is a Sevres Style onyx, bronze and hand painted porcelain pedestal. The pedestal consists of eight pieces. The first piece is the onyx square top followed by the second piece that is a bronze square base. Then come a long square gilt cobalt blue neck that is the third piece. After them come the fourth piece that include a bronze drape embellished by champleve technique with colorful scenes of different pairs of cherubs & foliages in all four sides, and the tapered rectangular hand painted porcelain block. The porcelain depicts a pair of cherubs that are playing some tambourines and another ones that are taking care of a garden of roses alternated by some scenes of another cherubs with two different maidens in a garden. The fifth piece consist of a reeded square bronze followed by a rectangular gilt cobalt blue porcelain block that is the six piece. Below them, it is found the seventh part that is a gadrooning square bronze base decorated at the bottom part with a garland of repousse leaves. Finally, the eight piece is formed by a two steps square shaped onyx pedestal with four bronze brackets feet.

    Repaired: Bracket legs were reattached to base. Wear consistent with age and use. The (4) foot have to be reattached to the base due to time.

    This is a pair of Sevres hand painted porcelain turquoise lidded urns. Both of them are depicting in the front a sea shore fishermen scenes. In one, a group of fishermen are preparing a sailboat and in the other one, they are pulling the net. The back are adorned with some gilt fishing tools and baskets with foliages. Both scenes are golden framed with scrolls of acanthus and flowers beside them. Gilt white concave long oval shaped rings alternated with gilt foliages and shamrocks decorate the necks of the urns. The same pattern are repeated in the lids, but no white color in the center. The bell shaped lids ended with pinecones finials. A mix of scrolls and Greek keys serve as handles.
