18th c. Italian Wood Table w/ Turned Trestle Legs & Forged Iron Stretcher

About the Item

An Italian wood trestle-leg table, with decorative forged-iron stretcher, from the 18th century. This antique table from Italy features a rectangular-shaped top, which is raised upon a pair of nicely-turned, trestle-styled legs (with a pair of turned wood stretchers supporting them at each side) and raised upon low-profile bun feet. The underside of the table is braced by a beautifully hand-forged iron stretcher, reminiscent of a bell or ogee arch shape, and is adorn with several disc and leafy shaped decorative pieces. Not only functional, but this iron stretcher creates visual interest and further embellishment to this piece. The warm fruitwood has a rich, old patina; a reflection of it's history and age. This 18th century Italian trestle table with iron stretcher offers numerous options for use, perhaps as an occasional table, small dining table, or desk.
