1930's Modernist Tubular Side Table

A recently completely refurbished Modernist Side Table originally produced in the 1930’s. Due to its smaller size, the table was mainly used at the time as either a stand for a radio, a make up table or as a drinks cabinet. When we sourced this piece, it was in very bad condition. The wooden parts were damaged, it was painted in various different colours and the table top was covered by a formica sheet. However during the restoration we found a layer of the original colour and therefore were able to repaint the table top and also the suspended drawer in the original blue paint. The steel legs have black wooden stops on the bottom. The table doesn’t have any labels or marks of the producer but the way it is built and the type of screws indicate that it was produced in one of the Thonet factories. It’s design is quite similar to Thonet tables such as type T 29 or BS 81 found in company’s catalogue from 1934, but the exact model number or designer of this piece remains unknown to us. The table is in a great vintage condition, all hardware and fittings are original. The chrome tubular steel legs shows some small marking due to normal wear and tear.
