French Liquor Side Table by L' Escalier De Cristal À Paris

About the Item

A French Louis XVI style liquor side table, or small bar, made of solid mahogany with lower shelf, turned tapered legs and a pull out board for serving. The top has a brass surround, a Breche d'Alep marble inset and wells to hold bottles and glasses. Four original cut crystal decanter bottles and eight small cordials or shot glasses (four glass missing). Exquisite craftsmanship by the firm L'Escalier de Cristal à Paris, executed around the turn of the century. Makers mark branded on the underside. In excellent condition with one leg repaired, circa 1890-1900. Overall dimensions: 22.5" W x 13.5" D x 28" H. Decanters: 9.25" H x 3.25" Glasses: 2.25" H x 1.5"

    Important display case attributed to l'Escalier de Cristal, made in engraved gilded bronze, with bent and beveled glazed panels and mirror background plaques. The top and the sides can be completely and widely opened. L’Escalier de Cristal, Parisian firm created circa 1800 by Mme veuve Desarnaud, famous under the French “Restoration” for its decorative objects combining crystal and bronze. She was awarded a gold medal at the 1819 Paris Exposition des Produits de l’Industrie for an outstanding gilt-bronze mounted crystal dressing table. Located in Paris, at the Palais-Royal, Galerie de Valois, L’Escalier de Cristal was bought out circa 1830 by Boin, and then by Lahoche in 1840.
