Late 19th Century French Louis XVI Style Marquetry Side Table or End Table
About the Item
This late nineteenth century French Louis XVI style rosewood marquetry side table features a 17.5 inch square top with an inlaid latticework pattern in lemon wood. The apron is further detailed with a rosewood marquetry pattern of repeating chevrons. A single drawer of dovetail construction fits seamlessly into the apron on one side and is appointed with a bronze drawer pull. The table rests on gently tapered square legs finished with bronze sabots and inlaid with an inset border of lemon wood. A handsome side table finished on all sides, this piece could be placed in the middle of a room between two chairs for its marquetry to be viewed from all sides. c. 1870.
