Painted Maple bedside tables by Jeff Martin Joinery

About the Item

Painted is gestural, abstract, and informal. Wildly naive, occasionally chaotic paintings about the presence of being and the ontology of material. What is the difference between an entire mountain, and a grain of sand, and the sound of water bubbling over a boulder in a creek, and the start of the universe? Chemically? Nothing. Observationally? Everything. Time is the source material and how we can choose to intervene and overlay meaning into things where there wasn’t meaning before. These credenzas and storage pieces don’t have any paint, yet are painted in a sense. Simple household chemicals, and artist fabricated chemical reactions are applied spontaneously to wood causing it to age or bleach rapidly, creating a painterly effect.
