Pescador Side Table Small

About the Item

A lyrical world of a tropical country with mild landscapes: this is the context of the work "O vendedor de frutas" (1925) by Tarsila do Amaral. The artist played a key role in the emergence of Brazil’s modernism movement, with her unmistakable signature, and its vivid colors and rounded shapes. This small boat that is crossing the ocean carries many symbols, such as the fruits of the earth, which signify the abundance we have in our Brazil. The shapes and tones, so full of brazilianness, are what we sought to translate in this piece.

The painting was purchased by MoMA in New York in 2019, established the Brazilian artist in the scene of the most relevant and eternalized international modern painters. The intention was to recreate its soul, bringing through shapes and colors harmony, through a fluid and organic design. The landscape that stretches against a waning moonlit night is delicately embodied in a small brass...
