About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning fully restored heavily carved Victorian walnut sewing table with ornately inlaid Tunbridge wear decorated top A very good looking and decorative piece, I've had it fully restored as its such a good find. The top has what looks like some kind of castle or perhaps religious building inlaid in the top, the type of work is called Tunbridge wear and is extremely fine and difficult work. The legs are expertly carved and very ornate The insides have been left totally original, I doubt the new owner will use this as a sewing table, its more of a decorative side or lamp table As mentioned this has been fully restored, its been washed back and French polished from the ground up. The top has a slight curve in it from timber shrinkage, it didn't perfectly meet the lock so we loosened the lock and now it does. There is a tiny bit of inlay missing from the top, otherwise its perfect Dimensions: Height 71.5cm Width 51.5cm Depth 38.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
